Programmer & 3D Generalist

Nautilus International Risk Consultants Ltd specialises in providing all aspects of managed simulation support, tracking and other services within Defence, Law Enforcement, Security Services and Civil Nuclear Sectors. Using specialist simulation software applications, we are helping to substantially reduce exercise training costs, by supplying specialist training services in the UK and Overseas. Founded in 2005, we are an established UK Defence company developing exciting simulation capabilities, Virtual Reality, Mixed Reality and Augmented Reality solutions.

Who we’re looking for:

We are looking for someone with a technical mindset and a passion for video gaming technology. This individual has a working knowledge of 3D modelling software, some form of programming, scripting or coding knowledge, and the desire to expand their skills and experience. They will join our team of developers to create assets for real-time simulations, produce in-engine cinematics, and operate the ARMA-based Virtual Battle Space 3, migrating to VBS 4. Assist with providing simulations on live military training exercises in the UK and occasionally overseas. A university degree in Computer Games Technology or equivalent is strongly preferred, but not required if they have experience in all the essential skills listed below.

Essential

  • Programming experience, ideally in C#.
  • Experience working in Unity or other game engines.
  • Working knowledge of any scripting language and willing to learn the SQF syntax (used in the ARMA video game series).
  • Ability to learn new software and techniques.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, being flexible and providing realistic estimates for completion of tasks.
  • Ability to communicate with other members of the team and have good problem-solving skills.
  • Would be required to live locally in the Poole/Bournemouth/Dorset area.
  • Content to be independently interviewed and provide personal information to obtain a classified security clearance.
  • Willing to work on military sites with team members.
  • Willing to fly and travel overseas for short periods of time.
  • Full UK driving licence, vehicle, and valid passport.

Desirable

  • Experience with former employment relevant to computer games.
  • General understanding of modelling for games and typical asset pipelines.
  • Experience with other relevant software applications (ARMA/VBS, Marmoset, Substance Painter, Clickteam Fusion, Adobe Premiere etc).
  • Experience developing applications for Virtual reality.
  • Have a basic working knowledge of 3D modelling (preferably 3DS Max, or be willing to learn if transitioning from other software).
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop.
