In close partnership with the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and the Nuclear Restoration Services, Nautilus delivers accelerated software applications, 3D CAD modelling, visualisations of adverse pathways, simulations, and contingency arrangements. The Major Incident Response Application (MIRA) is the only application that enables table top and operational Emergency Preparedness and Resilience Planning for Publicly Accessible Locations.
The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority is cleaning up the UK’s earliest nuclear sites safely, securely, and cost-effectively with care for people and the environment. Nuclear Restoration Services is responsible for the safe and secure clean-up of 14 first generation nuclear-licensed sites and the operation of one hydroelectric plant.
Nautilus has developed innovative Major Incident Response Applications for the Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS) & Decommissioning Authority use. The Major Incident Response Application (MIRA) affords NRS & Security personnel complete situational awareness to remotely manage, view, and respond to incidents or threats. MIRA currently exists for NRS Sites Bradwell & Sizewell A.
MIRA enables table-top and regulator-witnessed training exercises to take place. Any conceivable threat can be realistically simulated, without the costly need for multiple exercise participants. This significantly enhances current capabilities, whilst dramatically reducing costs, enabling a high degree of crisis management confidence and importantly approval and validation in front of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. MIRA is forward-compatible with, under the UK Government draft Legislation, Martyn’s Law or The Protect Duty. The Government has confirmed that draft legislation to enforce stronger protection against terrorism in public places such as venues will be published in early spring.
